The AMD-Domestic Markets Strategy, is a member of the Regional Management leadership team, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of Moody’s Ratings. The AMD-Domestic Markets Strategy will be responsible for developing a global strategy to capture growth opportunities arising from the development of local-currency capital markets in emerging economies. This role will also be responsible for the oversight and coordination of the execution of this strategy by (i) working with the Regional Heads who are responsible for the management of Moody’s Corporation’s (MCO) portfolio of investments in domestic credit rating agencies (the "CRA affiliates"), ii) enabling collaborations with Moody’s Analytics (MA) to distribute ratings, data and other content produced by the CRA affiliates, and iii) managing other portfolio-wide initiatives. The AMD-Domestic Markets Strategy will also support the COO-Moody’s ratings to coordinate activities for the effective functioning of the Moody’s Affiliate Advisory Board (MAAB), the governance body for the oversight of the CRA affiliates, and its risk committee.

The Role / Responsibilities:

  • Develop a global Domestic Markets Strategy aimed at identifying opportunities arising from the growth of capital markets in emerging economies and proposing credible and executable initiatives and tactics to capture them. Coordinate and oversee execution of this strategy through multiple prongs, including further expansion of the CRA affiliates portfolio, growth of individual investments, collaboration with MA to extract value from CRA affiliates’ ratings, data and other outputs.

  • Propose and obtain agreement from senior management on portfolio-level objectives and key results (OKRs).

  • Coordinate the activities of the Regional Management teams to manage and oversee the portfolio of investments in CRA affiliates; agree with the Regional Heads relevant OKRs for value creation and relevant KPIs and KRIs for each investment and monitor delivery.

  • Lead the development of robust and consistent portfolio analytics and elaboration of market assessments, strategic plans and budgets at the portfolio level to underpin the Domestic Markets Strategy.

  • Participate in the investment decision making process working closely with the Regional Heads and the Corporate Development team when strategic opportunities are identified to ensure alignment with the overall Domestic Markets Strategy and other corporate targets.

  • Coordination of resources and initiatives to support diversification of products and services by the CRA affiliates through the action of representative directors in the affiliates’ boards, interaction of Regional Management teams with the affiliates’ management and provision of central services by Moody’s Shared Services functions as appropriate.

  • Liaise with the Regional Heads and MA to enable dissemination of CRA affiliates’ ratings, data and research through MA platforms where appropriate and facilitate other initiatives for collaboration by the CRA affiliates with MA in support of MCO’s One Moody’s strategy.

  • Identify opportunities for the development and deployment of technology solutions that can support the CRA affiliates’ business, leverage resources across the portfolio and enhance oversight and coordinate execution of related initiatives.

  • Support the COO-Moody’s Ratings to organize the activities of the MAAB and its CRA Affiliates Risk Committee.

  • Manage the delivery of global knowledge sharing programs (e.g., ASK and MEET programs) and support Regional Heads in the execution of other affiliate enrichment engagements (e.g., secondments and internships).

  • Outreach with market participants and other stakeholders focused on domestic capital markets (investors, multilateral development banks).

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in corporate strategy, strategic consulting, investment management, business management, corporate finance or similar roles, where they demonstrated leadership, strong analytical skills, demonstrable business acumen, understanding of financial accounting, modeling and valuation techniques, corporate governance and risk management, excellent communication and presentation skills, and strong project management capabilities. The person will have had exposure to and a good understanding of the global capital markets and the credit rating industry. In-depth knowledge of Moody’s credit rating business a distinct advantage.

The position works in a matrix organization structure so the person needs to be a self-starter, able to drive projects to conclusion and work effectively with a variety of people at various levels within the company. The successful candidate will be expected to take initiative, work independently, lead cross-functional project teams and produce high-quality work. He or she will need to be poised and confident in working with a broad cross-section of the organization.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in economics, finance, business or other quantitative field preferred, e.g. MBA, MFin.

  • Financial or accounting qualification preferable, e.g. CFA, ACA/ACCA.
