Description

The EMEA Banking team is part of the Financial Institutions Group within Moody’s Ratings and provides ratings on banks and non-banking financial institutions in the region.

We have an opportunity for an Analyst to manage a portfolio of banking credits in EMEA, principally covering the Turkish market. This is a challenging role where you will be responsible for providing insightful analysis, to ensure rating accuracy and to respond to investors’ inquiries.

This opportunity involves developing an in-depth knowledge of the specific risks of these institutions and writing thought-leading research on them, as well as on the industry as a whole and related topics.

As part of the rating process you will manage effective interaction with investors, issuers and other market participants alike. You will be a key member of the team that will ensure our analytic approach continues to evolve to best fit these institutions, for example by incorporating market events and regulatory changes, and working closely with your banking colleagues globally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the assigned banks in Turkey and EMEA; take initiatives to enhance Moody’s analysis and research on the sector
  • Build strong working relationships with senior management at issuers
  • Write in-depth, high quality, insightful and focused research on credit trends, specific issuers or banking systems as a whole
  • Perform and present in-depth fundamental credit analysis effectively and comprehensively on a regular basis at rating committees
  • Represent Moody’s through initiatives including conference participation media presence and investor outreach

Qualifications

  • Credit/risk assessment experience gained from a financial institution, asset management or public accounting firm, or proven equivalent in-depth understanding of banking systems and their regulatory environment, preferably with knowledge and experience of the Middle-East region.
  • Good communication skills - able to communicate clearly and succinctly including the ability to articulate complex analytic and strategic issues and influence audiences of different skill and knowledge levels
  • Quantitative aptitude and proven analytical skills
  • Strong academic background at least equivalent to MSc/MBA in relevant areas. CIMA /ACCA/CFA professional qualification would be highly beneficial
  • Highly organised and efficient, with ability to multi-task and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Fluency in spoken and written Turkish is preferable
  • Willingness to travel across the EMEA region. The position will likely require approximately 20% of time spent on travel to client sites within EMEA, with travel plans typically self-managed and booked in advance
  • Ability to ensure ongoing self-development
