Role/Responsibilities:

The Associate Lead Analyst 1 (ALA1) will be a key member of Moody’s US Public Finance Group (PFG). The ALA1 will be responsible for analyzing a wide variety of local government credits using quantitative methods and qualitative judgment. He or she will be responsible for accumulating in-depth knowledge of economic trends and debt practices within the local government sector, as well as collaborating with teammates and other PFG associates. The ALA1 will publish thought-leading research on key credit trends affecting local governments and will present fundamental credit analysis on a regular basis to rating committees. The ALA1 will regularly interact with market participants, including issuers, investors, and intermediaries.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in credit analysis, financial markets, state or local governments, higher education, housing finance or healthcare finance
  • Fundamental credit skills including both qualitative and quantitative aptitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and research skills
  • Strong time management skills, ability to manage multiple priority tasks simultaneously, and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Evidence of Moody's Culture of Excellence attributes: integrity, collaboration, passion, respect, and responsiveness

Preferred Qualifications

  • MPP, MPA, MBA or similar degree
  • Background in municipal finance, public sector accounting, economics and statistics

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is [[$110,900 - [[$160,850, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
